I am tired of going to sales and trying on things that don't fit well or are the wrong color--duh, that's why they're on sale. I even went to the Barneys Wherehouse sale last week and didn't find anything, though I did see Samantha Mathis looking in the mirror at something forgettable that she was trying on. The best thing to do is make friends with a salesperson and then they will hold the item that you don't want to pay full-price for when it goes on sale.

However, <a href="http://www.rodanvsgriffith.com/store/"target="_blank">Rodan vs. Griffith have a sale that is worth going to right now. They have some awesome organic cotton dresses on sale (among other things) in a myriad of colors and sizes that fit the slim and more curvaceous ladies. I got a pleated black dress there today that I'm going to wear like a tunic with a chunky loose belt--sooo cute. This store is frequented by celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Alicia Silverstone, but the owners give everyone equal attention without an ounce of snobbery. They also have fun monthly events, so be sure to get on their e-mail list.

P.S. They also have cool men's clothes and kids clothes on sale.

That is so insane. It wasn't even that good. I mean, the owners must be delusional and think we are in Paris with those prices. Then I walked into American Rag and they told me that I couldn't even drink my iced tea while browsing. There was maybe only one othere person in the entire store. Those are two places that I'm not going to hurry back to anytime soon.

After a weekend in Vegas, I need a break from fashion victims. Let’s start with some positive fashion observance: Japanese women are the most fashionable. It’s not like I’ve been all over the world observing the way women dress, but Vegas has women from everywhere. I’ve also noticed this in LA and other countries that I’ve been to. Of course, most of these women are spending a ton of money to look good. In fairness, I’ve also seen some wealthy Asian women dressed like hoochies. Thin hoochies with small chests are slightly less offensive than women with lots of stuff hanging out. I know What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas, but normal women shouldn’t be confused with working girls and tragically some working girls are dressed classier than the general public. If only women would observe the advice that many of fashion icons have given: There’s no need to show off everything at once. Keep some things covered. But dressing like a slut is synonymous with Vegas. What was even more disturbing were the women wearing those dresses with banded hems. Someone who hates women designed these dresses since they flatter no one. The dresses poof at the ass and the bottom hem is a large band that clings to one’s legs. These do not celebrate a women’s body. I thought they would maybe flatter women lacking in the ass department, but they don’t. If I had millions of dollars I would pay each of these women off to burn their dresses and sign a legal document promising to never wear the style again.

P.S. I am referring to the tourists in Las Vegas

I am totally crushed out on <a href="http://www.joansonthird.com/breakfast_menu.php?id=7"target="_blank">breakfast at Joan’s on Third. They even serve breakfast until 12 pm during the week. Had I known that Joan’s on Third made the perfect omelette, I wouldn’t have had to go crazy over the one I had in Paris. Joan used to own an omelette restaurant in New York City. I forgot that I even liked sour cream with my eggs until I had my first omelette at Joan’s with crisp asparagus and goat cheese with the lovely sour cream on the side. An old roommate of mine from my NYC days had introduced me to eating sour cream with my scrambled eggs at a diner we frequented in the East Village around Houston and 1st or Avenue A. Of course, the eggs were perfectly cooked—it was all about the texture of the sour cream and eggs scrambled soft.

I can usually easily pass up a breakfast sandwich—the best I’ve found are homemade. I have on occasion missed my bagel breakfast sandwiches that I would grab before work in NYC. They were part of my breakfast ritual that made work more bearable. I rarely eat regular bacon---favoring the turkey version that’s healthier and more appealing somehow. But the bacon in Joan’s breakfast sandwich is perfectly crisped and tastes divine. The sourdough toast, eggs, and cheese are fresh and satisfying. It’s the sandwich you’d make at home if you had time, but restaurants have such a hard time duplicating.

There are other breakfast offerings like chocolate French toast and buttermilk pancakes that I would try if I were in the mood for something sweet. I had a morning roll from their baked goods section the other day that was like a mini-cinnamon roll without the sickly sweet frosting. I’ve fallen hard for breakfast at Joan’s on Third. I also have a feeling it will be a good breakfast alternative to Toast’s unbearable lines on the weekend. Oh, and this is one of young Hollywood's favorite lunch spots .

Yes, I spent over a hundred dollars on a cotton <a href="http://www.shopbop.com/rococo-print-neck-tee-monrow/vp/v=1/845524441824537.htm?folderID=2534374302029428&fm=whatsnew-viewall"target="_blank">T-shirt. And, yes, I find this amount for a T-shirt offensive. Whenever I don't fork out the money for something I love, I usually regert that I didn't buy it. I try to find the object of my desire again (like a certain Mayle purse that I didn't buy at Satine months ago) and it's impossible to find. This Rococco print tee by Monrow fits really well and can be worn more places than your ordinary print shirt--at least that's what I'm telling myself to justify the cost. I bought it in red and it's definitely my favorite v-neck. The cut is different and I find it very sexy.

Sorry that posting has been infrequent lately. I’m working on a project and trying to move. I will be writing about the Toronto Film Festival in September again. I know you can’t wait. Meanwhile, I will be posting before then. I still have a cool giveaway that I will do sometime this week.

Coldplay Concert Review

I saw Coldplay live a week ago today for the first time and it was very blah. The band clearly could not be bothered to rehearse before the tour and phoned in their performance. Chris Martin’s voice was not so great, the visuals of the show were blah, the band did not have enough presence for a venue as large as the Forum and they did not seem to care that they were doing a very half-assed performance. I’m sure that a lot of people didn’t notice and I wondered for a minute if I was being too harsh of a judge since I used to work in the music industry and have seen so many live shows, but with live music you can really tell if a band is performing at its best capacity. The sound sucked as well. DK likes Coldplay more than I do and had wanted to see them live forever. I didn’t want to ruin his time and didn’t even say anything negative about their performance until he did. With the way the economy is going, it’s much harder for people to find extra money for things like concerts. It offended me that Coldplay didn’t take their performance seriously and didn’t seem to care when they messed up chocking it up to the first night of the tour. Chris Martin even let his vocally challenged drummer sing a whole song. WTF? I’ve really lost respect for them. If they’re not going to bring it for a tour, they should just stay at home and enjoy all their millions. Hopefully, they will be better rehearsed and more energetic for the rest of their tour. Just beware.

Mac Tendertones are my new favorite thing. They are supposedly a limited edition item, but I have a feeling they're seasonal. I bought them in Pucker and Hot n' Spicy. These two have the most color in them and I have no complaints. This lipgloss is the perfect consistency (not sticky), can withstand heat, and has an SPF of 12.

I also bought a really cute beach towel at Target the other day. It was high-quality cotton and retailed for around $29.99. It appears to be sold out on their website, but you can find it in stores. They have several patterns. Just check the label to make sure they are the better quality towels.

Well, now I feel badly. I was going to write about this dress after I received it in the post, but now it's sold out in black. I hardly ever order clothes or shoes online because most of the time the fit isn't right or it's not flattering. This dress looks great with the sleeves pushed up. It's one of those dresses that you could throw on after a day on the beach or wear to brunch. I wasn't sure if it would be too baggy on, but I saw a store clerk wearing it the other day and it was so cute. It would work in white as well. I'm sure it will be sold in stores soon. Get it <a href="http://www.shopbop.com/sima-henley-dress-joie/vp/v=1/845524441821235.htm?folderID=2534374302029428&fm=whatsnew-viewall"target="_blank">here before it sells out online.

Here is Charlize Theron at the Hancock premiere in Paris. I don't like her dress because it flattens her breasts and has too many things going on. I do love her hair, though. I'm going to cut my hair soon and donate it to charity. Remember when I started <a href="http://www.tiffanyastone.com/blog1/2007/06/wigs_for_kids_not_starlets.php"target="_blank">growing my hair really long almost a year ago to this day? I have been getting my hair trimmed on a regular basis and have been taking good care of it. Now that my hair is perfectly healthy it's hard to cut it, but I'm going to be cutting at least 8 inches off by the end of summer at the latest. I think I'm going to donate it to Pantene Beautiful Lengths since I'm giving less than 12 inches. I can't decide if I want to have my regular hair person cut my hair or try another stylist that gave a friend a fabulous short cut. Another problem is that my current stylist cuts and colors hair and the other one only cuts hair.

The Mary Tyler Moore show is so iconic, yet I've only seen a few episodes. I really need to buy the series or figure out when it's on and DVR it. I do know that this picture of Sandra Bullock while filming All About Steve reminds me of Mary Tyler Moore. The film is about a woman who is obsessed with a CNN cameraman. That sounds kind of boring, but whatever.

These Kors by Michael Kors stilletos are hot. If you wear a lot of black and want some color, these are perfect. I've seen them online @ http://www.Intermix.com and http://www.shopbop.com. I think I'll go by Intermix on Robertson Blvd. to try them on. I bought a brilliant pair of Stella McCartney stilletos there before I went to Cannes and luckily got 40% off. They were still a lot of money, but are the most comfortable shoes and aren't too trendy. I had bought a pair of heels by Lamb at another store, but returned them because the quality was awful. Those shoes are really overpriced for the shoddy workmanship.

Bohemian dresses like this one designed by Bally really suit Kate Hudson. Since her low movie weight forbids her from having breasts, I think it's more flattering when she wears dresses that don't highlight her flat chest. I bet she would also look great in tunics. When I was in Paris, tunics were in all the stores. It's not a flattering look for me, no matter how much I want to wear it. BTW, what do you think about Kate Hudson and Lance Armstrong dating? I think she has odd taste in men.
