If you like seafood, Alioto's at Pier 39. Michael Mina at the Westin St. Francis is another good restaurant. Manga Rosa is Brazilian/Italian. If you can make it out to Berkeley, Chez Panisse (an Alice Waters restaurant) is a must, but they are busy. Haight Street has some awesome vintage clothing stores, if you're into that. anything near union square will have good shopping, and check out the new westfield shopping center. those are a few things that come to mind.

Fisherman's Wharf, obviously. Dunno if the big Ghiradelli's is still open at the Cannery, cos the one by us is closed, but it was fun.
Sort of touristy, I know, but it's all I have for ya.

Had a great time at "The Slanted Door" last time i visited San Francisco. very nice vietnamese fusion cuisine. it´s located in the beautiful ferry building - a place dedicated almost entirely to tasty food! you could also try the "ahi burger" at Taylors Refresher in the same building.
a visit to the farmers market is a must when you are there:
saturday 8AM-2PM
sunday 10AM-2PM
have fun.
