Livin' La Vida Loca

Part of: Music

[Breakfast: toasted pumpkin bread with cream cheese]

I'm tried of everyone making fun of Ricky Martin for saying that he was essentially bored with his fame and that's why he took some time off. Ricky Martin has been famous from a very young age, which a lot of people don't know, so it's not weird that he should want a break to enjoy life. He's also very grounded and spiritual for real--not playing into some convenient Hollywood trend. Another quote from the same article that said he was bored was,

When you work, work, work, something is wrong. You need to chill. You need to step aside and see where you've been, where you are now and where you want to be.

Why the hell would I defend Ricky Martin? I worked for his record label just as he was becoming a huge star from his 1999 self-titled album. I knew his schedule by heart, and he was working almost every day for over a year. Ricky was on a very tight daily schedule that did not leave much room for play. He rarely had a whole day off.

Ricky Martin was the first and last person that I've requested an autograph from. The reason wasn't because I was all starstruck by Ricky (well, maybe after meeting him in the flesh). My roommate (she also worked in music) and I had just decided that it would be really cool to have his autograph because he was larger than life to people. Also, it's so fun when you hang it up somewhere and people think that you've gone mad. Yeah, I'm too cool to have a Ricky Martin autograph, but I earned it and am proud of it.
